Open-Air Gas Reduction Systems
Strip methane, radon and sulphur gases from well water — while also treating iron, bacteria and odours.
What Is an Open-Air Gas Reduction System?
Dissolved gases such as methane, radon and hydrogen sulphide cannot be filtered out — they have to be released from the water. An open-air gas reduction system aerates well water in vented tanks so trapped gases escape, while chlorination sanitizes the water and finishes the job. Often described as a personal municipality for the home, one system can also treat iron, iron bacteria, sulphur, manganese, tannins, arsenic, radon, methane, low-yield wells and low pH.
How the Sentry I-G130 Works
We install Better Water Industries Sentry open-air systems. Water enters the first tank through an adjustable venturi that draws in air, starting oxidation and diluting gases such as methane. While the unit fills, the dry-pellet chlorinator dispenses a precise dose of chlorine that sanitizes the water, finishes oxidation, removes odours and kills bacteria. Water then flows over into the second chamber, where a submersible pump pressurizes it to your home. Three floats guard the system: a mechanical safety overflow, an electrical low-level shutdown and a water-level maintaining float. Each system arrives complete with chlorinator, by-pass, bladder tank and pump, pre-wired for straightforward installation.
